Throwback Thursday
Today’s Throwback Thursday is in honor of Albion HS Graduate and long time teacher:
Mrs. Mildred Hazel Cook
We were sadden to hear of the passing of Mrs. Mildred Cook on Monday, June 16th, just two days after her 95th birthday on the 14th
Mildred Hazel was a 1936 graduate of Albion High School and a life member of the Albion First United Methodist Church.

She became a dedicated teacher who taught in the area through four decades. She began her teaching career in the early ’40s in a one-room school house in Millville, NY, but the majority of her impressive career was in Albion High School. In the ’40s, ’50s, and early ’60s, students knew her as Miss Hazel. Then, in 1965, she married Richard W. Cook, so students in the late ’60s and early ’70s knew her as Mrs. Cook. She taught students in the 6th and 7th grades and in the subject of English. Her teachings reached across at least two generations – students who were in her classrooms in the early years often found their children in her classrooms in later years. Mrs. Cook’s husband passed away in May 2009. She is survived by her brother, Lewis, aged 93, and his wife, Ann. A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.

Thank you, Mrs. Cook, for devoting your life to molding the young minds of Albion students. May you rest in peace and may God truly bless you!
