Great Britain had no assembly lines in 1789, but it had advanced production methods that would promote the first assembly line in the United States. By this year, manufacturing in Europe, especially Great Britain, where large populations existed and where a large network of roads and canals enabled businessmen to reach resources and markets, new machinery and power were created by innovative men seeking fame and fortune. Therefore, all the conditions for mass production existed. The most important technologies were textile machinery and steam power that produced the British Industrial Revolution that would be transferred to the continent and to the United States.
