Fueling provides gasoline to the engine. The fuel pump sends gasoline fuel
from the gas tank to the fuel injectors, which feed the fuel at high pressure to the filtered air stream entering
the engine cylinders to be combusted.
Fuel injector feeds the gasoline at high pressure to the air stream entering
the cylinder through the intake valve. (The air filter located on top of the engine collects air contaminants
that would injure the cylinder and piston.)
Each cylinder has at least one fuel injector per intake valve. Some high-performance engines
have a second injector per intake valve, which is computer-controlled to provide more fuel at higher speeds.
(See 1980-2000 cars for operation of carburetion, which preceeded fuel injection.)
