Scholarship name: LaMont Family Scholarship

DescriptionThis two year scholarship has been established by the LaMont Family, active Albion community members for over 200 years. Through engagement in agriculture, community, church and government endeavors, the LaMonts have recognized potential excellence can develop from varied backgrounds, and that continuing educational opportunities always benefit determined learners. This scholarship is focused on encouraging and supporting committed students who will represent the first generation in their family to advance their education. It is awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated high academic enthusiasm, involvement in community and a strong sense of personal integrity. This scholarship is administered by the Albion High School Alumni Foundation.

Selection criteria: Albion High School senior being the first generation in their family to further their education.

Who selects: Selection committee and Ingrid LaMont

Criteria to earn: The first year the student will be given $2500 for the beginning of the fall semester. The second year, the student will receive $2500, after completing a minimum of 24 credit hours with a 2.5 GPA. The checks are to be made jointly to the student and the academic institution both years.

Funding:  Fully funded for 20 years, with final scholarship to be awarded in 2041

Amount: $5000 over a 2 year period
