January 16, 1861.   Little Rock:   The legislature completes s bill calling for a referendum on secession. Long 27

February 8, 1861.   Little Rock:   State militia seize the Federal Arsenal. Long 33

February 12, 1861.   Napoleon:   Arkansas militia seize the U. S. ordnance stores. Long 33

March 18, 1861.   Little Rock:   The Arkansas state convention rejects secession by a vote of 39 to 35, and adopts a resolution calling for a vote in August for votes to choose between secession or not. Long 50

April 18, 1861.   Pine Bluff:   State militia seize the U. S. Army subsistence stores. Long 61

April 23, 1861.   Fort Smith:   State militia seize this important frontier post. Long 64

Little Rock:   Arkansas secedes from the Union by a legislative vote of 69 to 1. Long 70
